Slat wall panels have become a common way to give a plain wall some texture. The vertical slats sit over a felt backing, which also helps soften echo in rooms with a lot of hard surfaces.
Where they work
In a home office, hard walls make calls sound thin, and panels behind or beside the desk help. In a bedroom, a slat wall behind the bed works as a headboard feature. In a living room, they suit the wall behind a television or a long empty stretch. Hallways and basements, which tend to echo, benefit too.
Choosing a finish
ZETY acoustic panels come in Natural Oak, Walnut Oak, Black Oak, Cherry Oak, Navy Blue and White. Wood-grain finishes add warmth. Black and Navy Blue make a strong feature wall. White adds texture while keeping a small room bright.
How many packs you need
Each ZETY panel is 94.49 x 12 inches, and a four-pack covers 31.5 square feet. To plan a wall:
- Measure the width of the area you want to cover.
- Divide by 12 inches to get the number of panels across.
- Divide that by four for the number of packs, and round up.
A wall about 8 feet wide takes 8 panels, so two packs. Check your ceiling height against the 94.49 inch panel length before you order.
Before you install
Each pack includes an installation guide. Mounting hardware is not included, so have screws suited to your wall and a drill ready, and check for wiring and pipes before drilling.
