Navy blue does something different to a slat wall than wood does. Wood reads as warmth. A deep navy reads as depth, and the wall settles back and becomes a backdrop instead of a feature. It is the finish to reach for when a room already has enough wood in it.
Each panel is a run of vertical slats on a felt backing. The slats break up a flat, hard surface and the felt behind them takes in some of the sound that would otherwise come straight back into the room. In a home office that shows up on calls. In a bedroom or a finished basement it shows up as a room that sounds smaller than it is. These panels soften echo and reverberation. They are not a sound barrier and will not stop noise travelling through the wall itself.
The navy finish is wrapped over the MDF core on all three exposed sides. That is the detail you notice at the end of a run. Where a panel meets a corner, a door frame, or the last stud on a wall, the edge you see is finished navy rather than a raw core. Core, slats and hardware are the same as our natural oak, walnut, black and cherry panels. The wrap is the only thing that changes.
A four-pack covers 31.5 square feet. That is a headboard wall, a chimney breast, or the section behind a desk. Panels mount to drywall or to a ceiling with the included black screws and a drill, and a staple gun works if you would rather move quickly. They cut cleanly with a saw, so outlets, switches and corners are not a problem. Measure the wall, divide by twelve inches, and round up.
